My name is Nicola, and I am a veterinary care assistant, I have been with the practice since 2023.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in animal management (Hons) 2.1, graduating in 2007. After graduating I completed an internship at Chester zoo working on the carnivore section, I then continued working within the zoo industry for 10 years. Working with an array of species including snow leopards, tigers, hyena, otter, giraffe, tapir, bongo, and many more. My passion for animals led me around the world, working with conservation programmes in South Africa, hand rearing and training ambassador cheetahs, to Argentina, working with conservation dogs, tracking bush dogs to locate and map their geographical range, along with their prey species.
I then spent 4 years working at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, as a dog training instructor. Training dogs in how to respond to specific sounds around the home, and out in public. As well as coaching volunteers how to raise and train an assistance dog puppy, along with matching and placing a qualified assistance dog with their deaf partners.
My areas of interest and further qualifications lie with animal behaviour, training and nutrition, which I am able to bring this skill set to Pool House Veterinary Hospital, aiding the care and management of people's pets.
