Hailing from Northern Ireland, Gil joined Pool House Equine Clinic to expand his equine skills after working in a mainly agricultural practice in Wales. Gil has obtained the Royal College Certificate in Equine Practice whilst working at Pool House and although enjoying all aspects of his work, he is particularly interested in lameness and laminitis. Gil writes regularly for various national equestrian magazines, either with featured articles or by answering readers’ questions!
Gil has acted as team vet for the British Driving team at the World Driving Championships on two occasions and had the great honour in 2009 of being named Petplan Equine Vet of the Year. Gil spends any time away from work with his wife Emma and their two young children, Olivia and Wilson, often assisting them with their ponies, Bronze and Peter! He will be a guest speaker at this year’s World Equine Veterinary Congress in China. Gil’s other interests include jogging, reading and his electric guitar! In July 2018 Gil had the great honour of being able to demonstrate the practice’s electronic lameness locator to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales during the Prince’s visit to our new facility.
